Intern of the Week – Andrew Polun

Meet Andrew, an undergraduate student at Towson University’s College of Business and Economics, Honor College, majoring in Accounting with a minor in Finance.  With an expected graduation date of Spring of 2025, Andrew is explicitly searching for a Spring 2024 internship in the Maryland area but is also open to Summer or Fall 2024 internships.

Andrew is ready to start working actively within the finance industry, specifically in investment banking, private equity, equity research, and asset management. He has taken numerous supporting classes at his university and is looking for an internship within one or a mix of these fields. The courses, ranging from the Principles of Finance to Financial Modeling, have taught him essential valuation techniques and sparked his fascination for the field.

Andrew is coachable, driven, and always willing to learn new material. He works well individually, but also thrives within a team setting. Time management is one of his strong suits since he has had to practice allocating his schedule after balancing three jobs, a full course schedule, extracurriculars, and studying for the CFA level 1 exam.

Intern of the Week – Kate Nemoy

Meet Kate, a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is currently working towards completing her double major in finance and marketing with a minor in public leadership. Kate is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2025.

Upon completing her studies, she is looking to start her professional journey in the financial services sector and is actively seeking a summer internship opportunity for 2024 to support this goal. She has taken several classes within the marketing field, but recently, she has realized that finance is the area she wants to pursue! She has taken courses ranging from Business Finance to Financial Investments and hopes to explore other courses, such as Financial Markets and Banking and Financial Institutions, in the future.

Kate is ambitious, loves learning new things, and is always up for a challenge. Being a Teaching Assistant for over 200 students has taught her to be reliable and a trustworthy leader. Her other skills include fostering customer relationships, multitasking, cooperation, communication, and maximizing efficiency.

Intern of the Week – Michaela Chambers

Meet Michaela, an undergraduate student at Loyola University Maryland pursuing a career in Communications, specifically in Advertising and Public Relations. She is seeking an internship in the Baltimore area for the Summer of 2024.

Michaela has developed a great love for journalism after being involved in her university’s newspaper, the Greyhound. She has been on the staff for three years and was recently promoted to Sports Editor! She has highlighted Loyola’s Division I sports teams and has had the opportunity to write News, Arts, and Eats columns. This opportunity has allowed her to express her creativity and passion for writing in a diverse set of fields.

Her skillsets include customer service, leadership, problem-solving, project management, and teamwork. She has taken courses from Intro to Communication and Media Writing to Digital Tools and Multimedia Storytelling. The one class she enjoyed was in graphic design, where she gained experience in platforms such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Outside of writing for the Greyhound, she has advocated for creating change on campus. She has specifically strived to improve dining operations for students with food allergies. According to Michaela, she “has project management and leadership skills through forming the first food allergy awareness and advocacy program on Loyola University’s campus.” Through this initiative, she has had the opportunity to work as a team player by collaborating with students and administration for this cause.

While at Loyola, Michaela has been on the academic Dean’s List for several semesters and was recently invited into Delta Alpha Pi, an honor society that promotes advocacy for students with disabilities. Also, she was nominated to Omicron Delta Kappa, another society where she has been recognized for her leadership. Additionally, Michaela has participated in several service events and looks forward to continuing to support the community.

Intern of the Week – Gino Pisano

Meet Gino, a sophomore at the University of Delaware majoring in Finance. He’s seeking a Summer 2023 internship in the Greater Baltimore region focused on financial advising, investment banking, or wealth management.  

Gino plays Division 1 lacrosse at the University of Delaware. He earned a spot on the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll in Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Fall 2022. When asked what he has learned from his experience as a student-athlete, Gino shared, “I understand time management and the value of teamwork when working together to achieve a common goal. I pay attention to the details and work hard to ensure things get done the right way.” 

Gino is Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access, basic HTML, and Python. 

Outside his experience at the University of Delaware, Gino has developed leadership skills as a club lacrosse coach for youth athletes. He also supports various lacrosse tournament operators in the summer months at competitions located from Philadelphia, PA to Annapolis, MD. Gino has also volunteered at UDANCE for the last two years, helping to plan a fundraising dance event to raise money for children battling cancer.

Intern of the Week – Sophia Merritt

Meet Sophia, a junior at the University of Lynchburg majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Marketing. Following a 10-day internship abroad with Living Sport’s International Business Program in London this June, Sophia is looking for a Summer 2023 internship in the Baltimore or the Eastern Shore region of Maryland.

This semester, Sophia is interning with Coach Koduelka and the Lynchburg men’s lacrosse team. She is in charge of documenting the season and communicating updates about the team via social media channels and the weekly alumni and parents newsletters.

Sophia has developed leadership skills as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She demonstrates teamwork and collaboration as the social chair for Alpha Sigma Alpha and as the Vice President and webmaster for Delta Sigma Pi, the business fraternity at Lynchburg. Sophia has also developed experience in sales and marketing by working as a Sales Associate at T.J. Maxx and a waitress at Dead Freddies.

Additional skillsets include proficiency in POS systems operations, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, G-Suite, Canva, and Adobe Photoshop.
